Toshiyuki Matsushita was born in Japan 1957.
In 1982, He went to Cremona Italy and studied at some masters’ workshops, He took further studies at Lombardi Regional School for making for Violin and Bow Restoration (85~87). While his was diploma maestro from the International Violinmaking school of Cremona.

From 1998 to 2006 - 2015 to 2020 he teaches a course to the students of the fifth year at the International Violinmaking School of Cremona about the final setting up process of violinmaking.

The instruments of Matsushita are made according to the old style Cremonese.They are known for their intense sound, attention to detail and artistic, the beautiful orange-red oil paint. He has participated in international competitions, including:

1988 5th Cremona International Violinmaking Competition “Antonio Stradivari” Silver Medal for VIOLIN and CELLO.

1996 12th International Violinmaking Competition by “The Violin Society of America” held in NewMexico, 1st Prize Gold Medal for VIOLIN.

1998 14th International Violinmaking Competition by “The Violin Society of America” held in Cincinnati Certificate of Merit 3rd Prize Making For QUARTET.

2004 3th PARI International Violinmaking Competition by “Etienne Vatelot”
Special Prize of Sound-VIOLINI, 2nd Silver Medal-VIOLA.
2006 11th Cremona International “Antonio Stradivari”Violinmaking Competition,
2st Prize Silver Medal -VIOLA.

1993 and 1996,he was invited “Stradivarius Summit Concert in Japan”,
As Violin In expert for the various Stradivarius instruments including “TOSCANY” violin (1690) and “MAHLER” viola (1672).
Now, he is maintainer of instruments by Antonio Stradivari “Park”1715,
Guiseppe Guarneri”Jean Becker”1734. Joseph Guarneri filius Andrea 1698 cello.

He is member of EILA 2002 (ENTANTE Internationale society of violin and bow makers) and JSIMA Japan String Instrument Makers Association.
